Our Story

Founded in 2007, the Australia/Thailand based lifestyle brand, Salita Matthews, was born as a channel for delivering Salita’s inspirations from her globe-trotting travels and her love of artisanal design using natural materials.

Focussing primarily on jewellery, Salita Matthews jewels originated as an ode to the beauty of pearls and was one of the first brands to offer uniquely shaped pearls in semi-fine, contemporary jewellery.

Salita’s signature style marries her love of freshwater pearls in a multitude of shapes and sizes as well as sterling silver and 24K gold plated hardware. The addition of turquoise, abalone and other semi-precious stones make her pieces eclectic, luxurious and uniquely distinct.

The Designer

For designer Salita Matthews you could say that fashion is in the blood. From her grandmother's silk factories in Thailand to growing up in a family of leather and silk artisans, Salita has always yearned to create.

Salita set her sights on the design world after studying fashion in Australia, followed by working as a stylist in New York and Los Angeles, and also a stint in fashion manufacturing and production in Australia and abroad.

The self-titled Salita Matthews brand is inspired by her east-meets-west upbringing and embodies everything Salita is, exotic and imaginative.

Our Craftsmanship

All Salita Matthews products showcase high quality craftsmanship and exceptional artisanal skills and techniques. All hand-crafted and not mass produced, in an ethical manufacturing environment by talented artisans across her native homes of Australia and Thailand, Salita’s designs celebrate the skills of her makers.
